We recognize the valuable resource we have in the members of the school district community.
The use of volunteers provides additional support personnel in the classroom, promotes community-school cooperation in facilitating the learning process, increases community support, and provides for individuals who have expertise in various areas to be used as resource persons.
Selection and recruitment of volunteers is done at the local school. Interested individuals should contact the appropriate building principal.
The use of volunteers is encouraged and promoted through the local attendance center. Volunteers are screened at the local level and must be acceptable to the administrator. Volunteers whose primary role is that of working directly with students or assisting staff on a regular basis are required to have a satisfactory criminal records background check and a satisfactory abuse registries background check prior to volunteering. Volunteers who chaperone students on an overnight trip are required to have a satisfactory abuse registries check on file with the school for that current school year.
The assignment of volunteers is done by the principal or designee. The continuation of the services of a volunteer shall be at the principal’s discretion.
Volunteers are bound by the same code of ethics, district policies and regulations as the professional staff.
