One of the most effective ways to reinforce learning is to make your home student-friendly.
- Have plenty of study supplies on hand (pencils, paper, pens, etc.).
- Make organization a priority. For example, show your child how to use a notebook or calendar to keep track of assignments.
- Stay calm. If you're overly tense about your child's schoolwork, you child will be too. So be patient. Putting too much pressure on your child can backfire.
- Show that you care about what your child is doing at school. Ask how classes are going.
- Establish a regular study time. Even on nights when there isn't any homework, your child can use the time to review assignments or read for pleasure.
